Tennis Champions
Tennis champions of the Whangarei Boys’ High School for 1947 are R. C. Guest (senior), G. McCullough (intermediate) and R. Hookham (junior). The finals were played last weekend with the following results: Senior: Guest beat K. Chenery, 6—o, 6—o; intermediate, McCullough beat M. Johnson I—6, 6 —4, 6—l; junior, Hookham beat P. McLeod, 6—3, 6—5. Carruth easily won the house points competition, scoring 27 to Grey’s nine and Hobson’s four. GIRLS’ TITLES
The senior championship was won by Melba Sweeney, with Nell Pollock runner-up; intermediate by Glenys Winnard, with Colleen Vallance run-ner-up; the junior by Mary DaviesColley, with Pam Dent runner-up. The highest points were gained by Mansfield House with Seddon second and Lovelock third.
In the drill championship Toni Bryson won the senior championship, with Nelda Sissons runner-up; intermediate by Shirley Davison, with Betty Railley runner-up and the junior by Pat Knowles, with Jeanette Francis runner-up. House points were Lovelock 1, Seddon 2, and Mansfield 3.
