FIRE

ROTORUA.—The first fire to which the aerial fire patrol of the State Forest Service has been called out so far this season broke out in open scrub country in the Ngaroma-Waipapa district, near the Waikato River below Atiamuri, on Saturday. The fire was not endangering any exotic forest, and, after the patrol aircraft had observed its position, it was considered unnecessary to send a firefighting party to the scene. After it had burned over about 60 acres the fire died out. —(SpJ y x
