Promised Work in State Fire Office
WELLINGTON. Sat. (P.A.).—An assurance that the interests of any workers employed by insurance companies who might lose their present employment as a result of the State Fire Insurance Office taking over the whole of the employers' liability insurance business would be protected was given by the Minister of Labour (Mr McLagan) last night. The Minister added that the Government proposed during the committee stage of the Workers' Compensation Amendment Bill to introduce an amendment authorising the appointment to the State Fire Insurance Office of any person who at the date of the passing of the bill was employed by any company or concern carrying on employers’ liability insurance in New Zealand.
