Voluntary Petrol Saving Ineffective
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Grave concern is felt at the failure of the plea for voluntary saving of petrol to produce results. In some recent weeks an actual increase in consumption was recorded. To discuss means of making voluntary petrol saving effective, il at all possible, representatives of petrol users, together with the executive ot the Aid For Britain National Council, held long conferences on Thursday and yesterday in Wellington.
Further discussions were adjourned until Tuesday, when a full meeting of -the council will be held. Points revealed in the discussions so far are that petrol saving must be effected immediately if the pledge to Britain is to be honoured and no effort is to be spared to give petrol users a chance to save voluntarily.
