Another Opportunity
Fears that the Weaver property in Rust Lane would be lost to Whangarei for recreational purposes as r. result of the Borough Council's recent refusal to secure it, will be lessened by a report from our special Parliamentary representative, and published yesterday. The Parliamentary representative states that the Government, which is taking a long view of Whangarei's future requirements, is of opinion
that the property in question should be retained for the additional recreational facilities required by the population Whangarei will possess in say, 20 years’ time. This is in accordance with the principles of town planning, and it is gratifying that Whangarei should have been given another opportunity to do for posterity what could never be done if the Weaver property were built upon.
