Successful Wind-Up To Hockey Tourney

A successful hockey tourney to wind up the season was staged by the Whangarei Hockey Association at Kensington Park on Saturday.

Nine men’s and four ladies’ teams took part in games of two eight-minute spells, providing spectators with plenty of fast exciting hockey. Ramblers were the winners of the men’s competition, defeating Old Boys A 2—l in the section play-off, while Vitiis won the ladies’ tourney, downing Maungakaramea I—o in a final game. RAMBLERS’ SECOND SPELL They evened the score when P. Spicer took the ball right through a bunch of defenders in the circle to reach the net. Ramblers with excellent half support, kept up the attack, and about two minutes before time H. Primmer scored with an angle shot to give the game to Ramblers.
