DISTRICT QUOTATIONS

Fair entries of dairy cattle and large entries ot 1 store and weaner pigs were reported by the principal firms operating at the two Kamo yards. Cows and heifers showing quality, and close to profit sold well but backward sorts were not wanted. A keen demand for stores, slips and wean ers maintained late rates in the pig section.

Quotations were: Pedigree Jersey cows, 12 to 17 gns; pedigree Jersey heifers, to 18 *'2 gns; grade cows, close to profit, £lO/5/- to £l2/15/-; late September and October culvers. £O/15/- to £9/5/-; Shorthorn cows, £B/17/0 to £9/2/0; cows in milk, £7/11)/- to £9/10/-; medium quality springing Jersey heifers, £B/10/- to £9/15/-; backward and small heifers, £5/15/- 1o £O/15/-; heifers in milk, £B/5/to £lO/5/-; empty 2-year heifers, £4/12/6 to £5/7/0; medium fat cows, to £10; boner cows, £8 to £0; baconer pigs, to £0; heavy porkers, £4/10/- to £5; light, £4 to £4/9/ ; large stores, £4 to £4/10/-; medium, £3/10/- to £3/18/-; small stores and good slips, £3 to £3/12/-; best weaners. At Parua Bay Alfred Buckland and Sons Ltd and Walter Wakelin Ltd offered a medium yarding to a fair bench of buyers. Quotations were: Dairy cows, £7/5/- to £9/10/-; backward springers, £6/5/- to £7/2/6; Jersey heifers, springing, £7/7/0 to £B/7/6; backward and small, £6 to £7: boner cows, £3/5/- to £5/10/-; small yearling Jersey heifers, £3/10/-. Average entries came forward at Whakapara where quotations were: Dairy cows, close to profit. £B/10/- to £10; backward, £6/5/ to £7/15/-; medium quality dairy heifers, £B/2/6 to £9/10/-; backward, £5/15/- to £7; crossbred springing heifers, £5/15/- to £B/10/-; boner eews, £3/8/- to £5/19/-; 2-year empty Jersey heifers, £5; Shorthorn cows and calves, £B. At Marua the advertised entries came forward to a large attendance of buyers and a good sale resulted, with store bullocks selling exceptionally well. Quotations were; Dairy cows, close to profit, £B/12/6 tc £lO/2/6; backward, £6/5/- to £7/5/-; medium quality Jersey heifers, £7/10/- to £B/18/-; backward and small. £5/10/- to £6/12/6: yearling Jersey heif ers, £3/18/- to £5/5/-; forward-condi-tioned 4-year Shorthorn bullocks, to £ls/2/6; 4-year store Shorthorn bullocks, £ll to £l2/IG/-; 3-year Shorthorn steers, £B/10/- to £11; 2-year Shorthorn steers, £7/15/-; yearling Polled Angus and Hereford steers. £4/19/-; heavy baconer pigs. £6/10/ .

Dalgety and Co. Ltd conducted a clearing sale on account cl' Mr M. Rogers. Waipapa. The ofTering consisted principally of in-calf Jersey heifers which sold up "to £lO/15/-. Empty 2-year heifers made £6/7/6 and yearlings realised £4/17/-.

The same firm, operating at Broadwcod, offered a fair yarding of dairy and store cattle. The dairy cows and heifers were mainly -small and out of condition. They sold at late rates. Passings were frequent in the store cattle section which consisted mainly of indifferently bred steers. Reporting on private sales, Wright Stephenson and Co. Ltd advised that several large lots of store cattle totalling about 400 head had changed hands during the week. 1 wo-vear Hereford steers made £lO and £lO/5/-; 2-year Polled Angus steers, £10; 3-year Hereford steers. £l3; good quality in-calf Hereford cows, £10; emptv 2-year Hereford heifers, £6; 2 year Hereford bulls. 25 gns; small yearling Polled Angus steers, £6.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd advised that a fair offering of dairy and store cattle and pigs came forward at Kaitaia where quotations were: Jersey cows, close lo profit, £9 to £l2/10/-; Jersey heifers, close to profit, £lO to £l2; backward cows and heifers, £6 to £B/10/-; light .at cows. £B/10/- to £lO/5/-; forward ecr itioned j-year Hereford steers, £l3/10/-; • horned 2-yea i - Hereford bulls, on account of Mr J.
