Australian Wool Prices Higher

(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day.

At the opening of the 1947-8 wool sales in Sydney prices showed a substantial advance over closing rates last June.

Good and better class fleece wool and best skirtings were 25 to 30 per cent higher, while average and inferior lots ruled 20 to 25 per cent higher.

The best price of the day was 51Jd for two separate lots from the More district.

Competition was keen, Yorkshire buyers being particularly active, with strong'Continental support. American buyers were not greatly interested in the type of wool on sale.
