Express Delayed By Derailment
(P.A.) DANNEVIRKE, This Day. Derailment of a goods train travelling to Dannevirke yesterday morning between Mangatera and Piripiri resulted in the blocking of the main railway line and yesterday morning’s express train from Napier to Wellington was unable to pass. The tender and several wagons ol the goods train left the line on a bend approaching the viaduct near Mangatera, but none capsized or was damaged. Nobody was hurt. There were 390 passengers cn the express and they were brought to Dannevirke after waiting at the Piripiri station in cold weather. The process of transfer took a long time because there were few buses available.
The passengers left Dannevirke shortly before 2 o’clock on a relief train.
