Anniversary Of NZ Landing In Samoa

A flag-raising ceremony commemorating the 23rd anniversary of the New Zealand troops’ landing in Western Samoa was held today. All sections of the community were well represented. Detachments from the schools, boy scouts, police force and returned soldiers paraded. Appropriate and loyal speeches were made by the Administrator (Colonel F. \V. Voelcker) and Tualaulelei, a member of the Samoan Legislative Council representing the Samoan people. • Tho flag was again raised by Anea who has raised it each year since 1914. A sports meeting is being held at Apia Park this afternoon, today being a public holiday.
