Derniisfon Mine Idle For 3 Days
(P.A.)
WESTPORT, This Day.
For the third day there has been no work at the Denniston Coal Company’s mine at Denniston because of a dispute involving a claim by tradesmen for a bonus of 1/6 a day, similar to that received by rope road workers. None of the underground workers started yesterday morning.. Some tradesmen started work, but ceased later in the morning, leaving only the powerhouse attendants engaged.
The dispute is being referred to the Coal Councill. Production from Denniston averages about 370 tons a day.
