No Nationalisation Of Power Boards
(Special) WELLINGTON. This Day. The nationalisation of electric-power boards was not being considered by the Government, said the Minister of Works (Mr Semple) in the House of Representatives yesterday, when replying to a question by Mr W. H. Fortune (O—Eden). Was there any reason which the Minister knew of why local bodies, including power boards, should not make donations to charitable or other worthy objects, asked Mr Fortune. Replying, the Minister said that the question was one which was too general to give a specific answer to. Local bodies were bound by various acts under which they were constituted. At the present time this act allowed the local bodies to contribute to certain objects of the character mentioned by Mr Fortune.
