Grader Drivers To Live In Caravan
An immediate start is to be made on building a caravan for the use of grader drivers employed by the Whangarei County Council. If this proves successful and not too costly consideration will be given to the building of a second caravan. Th machinery committee of the Whangarei County Council recommended that a caravan Be built immediately to reduce drivers' travelling costs and save time. CAR ALLOWANCE
Also on the recommendation of 'the machinery committee the grader drivers are to be paid a car allowance of fid a mile as from June 1 next. Drivers are to show on their time sheets the mileage covered against the road on which the machines are working.
In future no work is to be carried out on drivers’ cars in the county yard or in the council’s time.
