Late Tomatoes
Recently, while travelling through a warm, sheltered district, I noticed rows of tomato plants bearing a mass of perfect bunches of tomatoes just turning colour. This has been a good season for late outdoor tomatoes, and beans, in sheltered situations. The recent heavy frosts finished the fruit in all but very frost-free situations. The tomatoes referred to were from seed sown early in the year. They were wonderfully healthy and had had every attention. They had been tied to supports, sprayed, and most of the larger leaves cut away to allow the sun lo reach the fruit, and they were grown in new ground facing east.
