Watersiders Indict Harbour Boards
(P.A.) DUNEDIN, This Day. “Whatever may be the claims of our ! harbour in particular, and of harbour boards in general, to be democratic-alily-elccted public bodies, and whatever justification there may be for the appointment of harbour boards to administer our harbour facilities in the early history of the Dominion, we have now come to the conclusion that these institutions have outlived their usefulness.” This statement is the opinion of the Port Chalmers watersiders, who have requested the Prime Minister to consider the advisability of conducting a comprehensive investigation into the “competence of the present authorities to have continuation of control of the country’s harbours,”
