Not What Desired
(Special WELLINGTON, This Day. The majority of the Labour Government at the last general election was not what it should have been. The annual report of the executive of the Federation of Labour, presented to the annual conference here yesterday. stated this. The executive issued 50,000 circulars entitled “Why the Workers Fight and Vote.”
This reminded unionists of the benefits received since 1935. Thousands of federation members worked long and hard through their unions, on election committees and m Labour Party branches to secure the return of the Labour Government. But the Government had not been returned with the majority it desired.
