Gold Foundatiores In 'Smithy's' Shop
(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) PERTH, This Day. Gold-bearing stone running loz. to the ton was used to build up the site for a blacksmith’s shop on the old Gladsome mine at Comet Vale, near Kalgoolie. The discovery was made by a party of diggers interested in stone in a lower level. When the diggers began forming an ore paddock near the shaft head they .found promising stone in the foundations. The stone is believed to have been taken out during the sinking of the main shaft in the boom days of the Golden Mile.
