Mail Bogs Rifled At Wairoa Station
(P.A.) NAPIER, This Day. Bags of second-class mail destined for Gisborne and the East Coast were rifled in a railway wagon standing in the Wairoa station yards during the week-end. The van was forcibly entered. Numerous parcels and packages were opened after the seals had been torn from the bags. The contents of many of the parcels were strewn over the van floor. The fact that the van had been entered is understood to have been discovered when the van was being included in a train for Gisborne on Monday. Post office authorities at Napier were unable to say if any goods in the parcels were stolen, but said that no letter mail or registered mail was interfered with.
