Thirty-six basketball teams met in competitions promoted by the Whangarei Primary Schools Sports Association at the Whangarei Girls' High School today.

Teams came from as far afield as Maungaturota and Waiotira while local schools had several different teams to represent them —the Whangarei Girls' High School entering six.
