Control Committee For North College
(Special) KAIKOHE, This Day. Sanction of the Auckland Education Board has been given a proposed constitution for the controlling committee or board to govern the new Northland Agricultural and Technical College, Kaikohe. The constitution was suggested by the existing committee of management. which is still the old Kaikohe District High School Committee. This body, when the new board of governors is duly set up. will revert to control of the Kaikohe Primary School. The new college board will consist of nine members elected on a system not applying elsewhere in New Zealand. One representative will be appointed by the local town authority, another by the local Maori council, a third by the local branch of Federated Farmers. Three members will be elected by parents of pupils from outside the town district or borough, and three more will be elected by parents within the town area. The parents’ representatives are to be elected by postal ballot on the basis of one vote for each family having children at the college. No decision has been made to date as to the date of the appointments and elections, nor as to when the new body will begin to function.
