U.S. Right To Philippines Eases
(Rec. 1.30.) WASHINGTON, Mar. 14. The United States lias secured the right to maintain military bases in the Philippines under an agreement signed at Manila today.
The acting-Secretary of State (Mr Bean Achcson) said any of these bases may be made available to the Security Council by prior mutual agreement between the United States and the Philippines. Mr Achcson added that the United States would send a military mission to advise the Philippine Government on defence problems and keep only sufficient forces in the Philippines to man bases.
