More Riots in Punjab
(Rec. 11 a.m.) LAHORE, Mar. 14. It is officially stated that the situation in some Punjab border areas is “extremely serious.” A crowd of more than 2000 attacked and set fire to villages in the Jhelum district, despite hot fire from, troops and police. The troops were able to save most of the villages.
Troops and police engaged the raiders in a two-hour battle near Campbellpur. The raiders had come across the Indus.
Amritsar and surrounding areas remained in a state of “considerable nervousness.”
