Watersadsrs Demand General £1 Increase
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Branches of the Waterside Workers’ Union throughout the country are l'orwarding to their headquarters in Wellington resolutions supporting the New Zealand Federation of Labour in its impending application to the Arbitration Court for a general wage increase of £1 per week. At the monthly stop-work meeting which concluded on Thursday afternoon, the Wellington branch of the union carried a resolution stating: “'This branch supports the national council of tile Federation of Labour in its efforts for an increase of £ 1 weekly for all workers and wishes the council to impress cn the Government that nothing less will be acceptable. The resolution added that should the federation’s representatives be unsuccessful a special meeting of the council sholcl be called “to consider what action is required to bring this about.'’ .
