Naval Men Quote Wanganella Pay
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Payment of danger money to seamen on the Wanganella is cited by the ex-Royal Naval Men's Association in a letter to the Minister of Defence urging payment of a full war gratuity of 2/6 a day to personnel of the New Zealand Navy who served in minesweepers. “Members insist that such a payment is the just desserts of the courageous men who served in minesweepers.” the letter states.
