Three Mines Idle Sn Waikato
(Special) HUNTLY, This Day. Three coal mines were idle in the Waikato area yesterday. They were the MacDonald mine, where there had been no work for the previous three days, the Glen Afton and the Alison mines. Miners at MacDonald and Glen Afton held stop-work meetings and the latter decided not to work in sympathy with the former. The Alison mine men held a stopwork meeting and then went home.
No statement has been issued about the matters discussed, but it is believed that they did r.ot relate to the MacDonald mine trouble.
The stoppage at the three mines affected 700 men and the loss in output is estimated at 1600 tons.
Neither the Kamo nor mines have been affected by the trouble in the Waikato and the mines were worked as usual this week.
