Mr J. N. Rishworth

OBITUARY

(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. \ The death has occurred at the age of j 70 of Mr John Norman Rishworth, of j Burrows Avenue, Parnell, for many ] years one of Auckland's leading dental' surgeons. The son of the late Rev. and Mrs J. S. Rishworth, Mr Rishworth was born in Blenheim and came to Auckland 45 years ago, practising for a short time in Onehunga before moving to the City. In the latter half of the First World War, Mr Rishworth was Deputy- j Director of Dental Services to the NZEF, with the rank of lieutenantcolonel. He was awarded the M.B.E. and was mentioned by the Secretary for War for valuable services in the United Kingdom. He was a life member of the New Zealand Dental Association, in which he had held every office, including that of president. He was also North Island I member of the Dental Council until a I year ago. During his latter years in practice Mr Rishworth specialised in dental radiology and oral surgery. He retired two years ago. He was a keen yachtsman and built the launch Elida for his own use. He was also a member of the Northern Club. Mr Rishworth is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. Mr H. C. Rishworth, of Whangarei, is a brother.
