Few NSW liners Vote On Strike

(Rec. 1.0 p.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. Only one-fifth of New South Wales miners voted at the aggregate meet- 1 ings yesterday, which upheld the recommendation by the central council of the Miners’ Federation that there should be no general strike at this stage. As it was, the vote was overwhelmingly in favour of resumption today, but it is believed that had more miners voted the result would have been even more decisive, as the militants used the full weight of their voting' strength. The decision against a strike was carried by 2286 to 815. Miners in Victoria and Queensland, who total 8000. are voting today. There were clear majorities on all fields, Cessnock leading with 481 to 10. If Bunnerong powerhouse can keep going today, supplies of coal are assured and Sydney will avoid a power black-out.
