Mulloy Beats Brown In Aust. Champs.
SYDNEY, Jan. 22. After dropping the first two sets, G. Mulloy (United States) recovered to beat G. Brown (New South Wales), 4_6, 3_6, 6—3, 6—4, 6—2, in the second round of the Australian singles championship today. Mulloy was in better, physical condition than Brown for the deciding set and forced the Australian into errors.
In the second round of the men’s doubles, F. Sedgman (Victoria) and G. Worthington (New South Wales) beat D. 'Pails and G. Brown (New South Wales), B—6,8 —6, 6—3, 4—o. Pails and Brown forfeited when Brown developed cramp in the arm following his gruelling singles match. Youth triumphed over experience in another second-round doubles match in which T. Brown (United States) and W.fl Sidwell (New South Wales) beat J. Crawford (New South Wales) and H. Hopman (Victoria). 6—l. 4—6, 4—6. 7—5. 6—3.
