Baling Twine Mexf Week
Supplies of fencing wire are unobtainable, said Mr A. J. Murdoch, M.P. for Marsden, this morning, but baling twine can be expected in Whangarei district by the end of next week.
The following telegram regarding twine was received by Mr Murdoch from the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Cullen).
“Have gone into the position and am assured that Donaghy's (Auckland) are working full capacity, but evidently there is not sufficient to meet the demand. Donaghy’s have arranged to ship supplies from the South Island by the s.s. Gale, which leaves Lyttelton on Friday next for Wellington.
“Extra supplies, therefore, over and above that produced in Auckland, can he expected in your district at approximately the end of the week.”
Mr Murdoch added that an enterprising baler of Maungatapere. Mr Handley Cliff, has arranged for two tons of twine to be flown from Blenheim to Wellington for distribution in the Whangarei district.
