MOTOR CYCLIST HURT Running into a car parked on the side of the main highway near Turiwiri on Tuesday night, a motor cyclist, Mr George Johnson, aged about 19, suffered concussion, cuts and abrasions. He was admitted to the Northern Wairoa Hospital. SUNDAY SPORT
The Dargaville Borough Council has decided that the use of its reserves for Sunday sports should not be allowed before 12.30 p.m. This was recommended by the council’s legal and finance committee, which had previously recommended that Sunday sport on tlie reserves be banned. DARGAVILLE RATES
The highest rate collection for some years lias been made by the Dargr.vilie Ecrough Council for the current .rating year. The treasurer (Mr W. S. With the thermometer climbing well into the 80’s during the past few days, tar-sealed roads in the Whangarei district have been softened and in the borough some streets reached the sticky stage uncomfortable to pedestrians. Borough employees have been spreading fine gravel in some of the main stre-ers in order to improve the state of the surface —this has been done to geed -effect in Camefron Street.
