He Returned To Settle In N.Z.
(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. A former prisoner of the Japanese. Mr Stanley B. Hale, has returned to New ‘Zealand from London to settle here.
Mr Hale said he liked New Zealand, its people, and its food. Since lie landed from the Largs Bay on January 14 he has added 71b. to his weight.
While in England last year he lost two stone.
After the Japanese surrender he was sent to New Zealand with 400 other ex-prisoners and spent seven weeks at Ravensthorpe before returning to England.
There was no doubt, he said, that in England New Zealand was the most popular of all the overseas Dominions, and the New Zealand servicemen ranked higher in esteem than those from any other part of the Empire.
