Theft Of Articles Worth £386 Alleged
On 12 charges of theft of articles of a total value of £386/0/6, a Whangarei man appeared in the Whangarei Court today.
Representing him with Mr R. K. Trimmer, of Auckland, Mr D. J. Thomson asked for an adjournment, stating that neither the police nor the defence was ready to proceed. In view of the proximity of the Supreme Court session, DetectiveSergeant J. B. Finlay said the police did not object to an adjournment. He suggested February 26 as the date for hearing. An adjournment to February 26 was granted by Messrs F. Watters and G. H. Lloyd, J.Ps.
Mr Thomson applied for suppression of accused's name. Various factors entered into the application and no good would be served by publication of Ihe name at this stage, he said.
When the case was heard next month the matter would be fully ventilated. The application was granted.
