Dispute On Dairy Factory Conditions
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. A dispute on rates of pay and terms and conditions of employment of workers in dairy factories and related trades between the New Zealand Dairy Factories Industrial Association of Employers and the Dairy Factory Workers’ Union began in Welington today. The Conciliation Commissioner (Mr S. Ritchie) who presided, suggested that negotiations should begin afresh as the August conciliation had achieved nothing permanent. Proceedings today consisted of an attempt on the part of both groups to reach an intermediate agreement on as many claims as possible, leaving the more contentious matters to a later discussion.
