Equal To All Blacks

RUGBY

MELBOURNE. This Bay

Twenty-eight members of the New Zealand Army Rugby team. which won 29 of its 33 matches played in Eritain and Europe, passed through Melbourne yesterday on board the Mo ret on Eay.

The ship is carrying 245 returning New Zealand servicemen and war brides from Britain. The manager of the Kiwis 'Colonel A. H. Andrews) said the team was the equal of any All Black side which had ever left New Zealand.

Little Rugby is played in Victoria, but Mr J. A. Malcolm, New Zealand Government representative in Melbourne. also a vice-president of the Victorian Rugby Union, who met the team, said that if the Victorians could have seen the Kiwis in action Rugby would have a much greater following in Victoria. There would be no such opportunity, however, as the ship was staying only one day.
