Kingfish Plentiful In Whangarei Harbour

Kingfish and kahawai are reported to be fairly plentiful in the Whangarei Harbour, and several good fish have been landed near the Heads bv sportsmen who have been trolling for them. Perhaps the best catch recently was a 451 b. kingfish landed near Reotahi. by a returned member of the Fleer, Air Arm. The fish took a spinner, and provided plenty of excitement for the angler, who was using a light 80yard schnapper line. Among other kingfish landed was a 35-pounder. Reports indicate that while schnapper are not very plentiful near the Heads, a substantial number have been caught recently in the upper reaches of the harbour.
