‘Advocate’ Christmas Party
Fifty children were entertained at the annual Christmas Tree party held by the “Northern Advocate” Welfare Club at the Friendly Societies’ Hall', Whangarei, yesterday afternoon. From a large tree were suspended toys, one for each child whose parent was an employee of the company. Despite his whiskers having been caught in a barbed wire entanglement and blackberry bushes, while he was en route to the hall, Santa Claus made his appearance on time and distributed the gifts. The children were treated to lollies, ice cream and paper hats, and were kept amused by Mr Ted Darley, as master of ceremonies. The - president of the Welfare Club (Mr C. Wright) concluded a happy function with remarks in lighter vein.
