Maori Fined For Conversion Of Boat

RAWENE, This. Day

A fine of £5 with court costs 10/was imposed on Aubrey Henry Curry, 23, a Maori from Motukiore, for unlawful conversion of a boat. He appeared in the Rawene Police Court before Messrs A. E. Andrewes and F. C. Hardgrave, J.P.’s. Constable H.' E. Hollinshead stated that accused had taken the boat, which was the property of Mr Stephen Beelve, of Rawene, from the south side of the Hokianga across to The Narrows, on the Kohukohu side, where he had abandoned it. The boat was recovered undamaged next morning. Accused pleaded guilty in court/ ■ _ At the same sitting, Taitua Reniti, 25, from Omanaia, was fined £3 when he pleaded guilty to the theft of a clock in Auckland. Reniti was located in Omanaia by Constable Hollinshead and was brought up on summons. SERIOUS OFFENCE Appearing before Messrs J. J. Bedggood and W. Shaw, J.P’s., on two charges of carnal knowledge of a girl of. 15 years, Isaac Kawa Erueti, 22, of Kaikohe,* was yesterday committed for sentence at the Supreme Court in Auckland.
