Personal
Mr I. A. Cromie, Whangarei borough engineer, has been granted leave of absence to attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Engineers to be held in Wellington in February.
Dr. J. H. Webber, formerly of Kaikohe, who recently was appointed medical superintendent to the Mangonui County Public Hospital at Kaitaia, was welcomed by the chairman (Mr. J. W. Hoskin) at yesterday’s meeting of the Mangonui Hospital Board. Dr. Webber replaces Dr. W. R. McKechnie, who, after some four years in Kaitaia, has left to take up a specialist post at Dunedin. Prior to their departure, Dr. and Mrs. McKechnie were farewelled by the matron (Miss ■I. S. Knox) and the nursing staff, and were recipients of a suitable presentation. Staff members expressed warm appreciation of Dr. McKechnie’s services to the Kaitaia Hospital.
