Second Austrian Republic
VIENNA, December 19,
The Allied Control Council has approved the new Government of the Second Austrian Republic. It is the first to be formed by democratic processes. The Government is headed by a chancellor, Leopold Figl, and includes eight members of the People’s Party (Catholic), five Socialists and one Communist. The newlyelected Parliament meets for the first time today.
