This occasion, together with the debutantes’ ball a few days earlier, was the first for many years on which Government House at Auckland has housed such a brilliant scene. The guests included the heads and other representatives of the Navy. Army and Air Force, and the heads of the three women’s services in Auckland, members of the Consular Corps, and civic officers anc their wives. Many of the men wore uniforms with orders and decorations Among the guests was Mrs. ConyersBrown, of Whangarei.
