Northern Coaster Back After War Service

(Special)

AUCKLAND, This Day.

Returning to' her owners, the Northern Steamship Company, after three years’ service in the Pacific with United States forces, the 186-ton vessel Tuhoe, well-known on the northern coast, arrived in Auckland on Sunday evening and berthed yesterday morning. . .

The trip/ from Sydney, which took 11 days, was not without incident. Three days out of port, one of the Tuhoe’s engines broke down, and she was forced to make use of her sails to supplement the remaining engine for the rest of the voyage. Before leaving Suva, the vessel underwent survey under the direction of the company’s superintendent, and after some minor alterations have been made, the Tuhoe will be in service again.
