MR. W. N. Kohukohu Riding (Returned Unopposed.) MR. A. C. YARBOROUGH.— Seven teen year chairman Hokianga Count} Council and 12 or 14 years (its entire period of existence) in the chair oj the Hokianga Harbour Board, together with a joint 20-year councillorship and hospital-board membership represents Mr. Yarborough's local body service. He is in addition a member of the Main Highways Council, Kaikohe Primary Production Council and of tho Noi-thland Erosion Committee. He is a member of the Broadwood branch of the Farmers’ Union and was chairman three years ago. Mangamuka Riding (Returned Unopposed.) MR. J. W. JULIAN.— Six years’ councillorship have been sufficient for Mr Julian to be returned unopposed for Mangamuka riding.' Son of John Julian, he has been farming in the district for about 25 years. A wellknown footballer he was once a Northland rep. Mr. Julian was later a Northland selector. He has been chairman of the Tutekehua School Committee for some years. Motukaraka Riding (Returned Unopposed.) MR. R. R. G. SEARLE.— Re-elected for Motukaraka riding after six years' service. Mr. Russell Searle is a young man, although he has been farming on his own account at Tapuwai fo the past 10 or 12 years. He is a member of the Sheepowners’ Federation and is also chairman of the Motukaraka District Patriotic Committee. Mr. Searle is a former Hokianga junior Rugby rep. Omapere Riding (Returned Unopposed.) MR. W. H. FELL.— Having lived all his life in Waiotemarama, Mr Fell is farming on the property previously owned by his well-known father, the late Mr. W. S. Fell. Pie is secretary to the Waimamaku branch of the Farmers’ Union and of the Waiotemarama Patriotic Committee, also a member of the Waiotemarama School Committee. Rawene Riding (Returned Unopposed.) MR. A. R. COX.—With two terms of service, Mr Cox has been farming in the district since 1920, last eight years on his own. tic is a Farmers’ Union member and was for two years a director of the Hokianga Dairy Company. Born in Central Otago. Mr. Cox has for some years been on the Cue School Committee. His brother (Mr. Hugh Cox) is headmaster of Kaikohe District High School. Taheke Riding (Returned Unopposed.) MR. W. H. WHITE.— One of bestknown personalities in the Bay of Islands and Hokianga, Mr “Billy” White, of Taheke, is contesting the Bay Power Board election under tho new Hokianga franchise. He has already served 22 years on the council and hospital bqard and 11 years on the harbour board. Besides membership of the Farmers’ Union, Mr. White finds time to act as chairman of the Kaikohe National Savings Committee, chairman of the Taheke District and Hokianga Inter-zone Patriotic Committees, and member of the Zone A and Auckland Provincial Patriotic Committees.

Waihou Riding'

MR. W. H. S. CHEESEMAN.—Mr Cheeseman, storekeeper at Rangiahua, is also seeking one of the two Hokianga representations on the Bay Power Board. Mr. Cheeseman has been resident in Rangiahua for about 18 years, for eight or nine of which he has been a J.P. He has been commissioner to the local school for eight years and was secretary to the Rangiahua Sports Committee for several years before the war. Intensely interested in Patriotic Fund work, Mr. Cheeseman was secretary to the winning queen in Hokianga's recent Mother Queen carnival.

MR. O. O. PERRY,— During his 30 years of farming in Rangiahua, Mr. O. G. Perry has spent 21 of them in membership of the Hokianga County Council and Hospital Board, having been chairman of the latter body for about six years past. As such, he has been a leading figure at a number of conferences on hosiptal matters. He is also contending one of the Bay Power Board’s two Hokianga seats. Mr. Perry is a foundation member and former secretary of the local Farmers’ Union branch, and is secretary of the Waihou-Mangamuka District Patriotic Committee.

Whangape Riding

MR, G. COOPER.—One of the two “new hands” to contest Cr. John Mackenzie’s late riding of Whangape, Mr George Cooper is the sole chairman the Awaroa Bridge School Committee has had in its 10 years of life. A soldier in the last War, in which he was twice wounded, Mr Cooper Js an R.S.A. and Farmers’ Union member. His favourite sport is cricket, at which game he formerly skippered Hokianga County.

MR. F. HOLLAND.—A Broadwood farmer of 35 years’ standing, Mr. F. Holland is contesting Whangape riding. He has been a member of the Broadwood A. and P. Association from its inception and-has been its president for two terms. He is also chairman of the Broadwood ;Patriotic Committee;; and of ~ the Ruharund • Schqol Committee, the latter for five years past. Mr. Holland is club captain for the Broadwood Golf Club, but is., also interested in tennis hhd Rugby.
