Full Backing For Intimation To Eire
CANBERRA, This Day.
. The recent intimation to the Eire Government that Australia was in accord with the American request for removal from. Eire of German and Japanese representatives and would not intervene was the decision of the Australian Government. The Prime Minister (Mr Curtin) said this, replying to critical statements by Archbishop Mannix. Dr. Mannix was reported to have said that the Press ws> asserting Mr Curtin spoke for Australia when he seemed to take sides in the issue and that he would be surprised if Mr Curtin’s personal opinion on the question would be enthusiastically endorsed by his own party or even by his own Cabinet.
