Tito appointment of Mr. Charles Wilfred Stewart While as Member of the Railways Appeal Board during the illness of Mr.' J. S. Rcscoe was gazetted last night. Mr, Alfred Bell Rigg is appointed Wages Commissioner for the purpose of Economic Stabilisation Emergency Regulations, according to a notice appearing in the Gazette last night. Among Ihe military appointments and promotions gazetted last night is ihnt of 'romp./Major G. W. Spite, assistant quar-termaster-general army headquarters, who is promoted lo temp/I J.-Col. Lt • Col. J. H. Will relinquishes his appointment of senior medical officer at a northern mobilisation camp and is posted to the retired list. Corporal Roderick Quinton Smith, of Wellington, who has been reported killed in action, was one of numerous servicemen to go from the Home Guard to the Expeditionary Force. He was a brother of Constable Noel Smith, of Whangarei. A wife and child are left.
