Northland Tennis As sufficient tennis balls are on hand or in sight, the North Auckland Lawn Tennis Association intends to hold a handicap tournament in A. and B. grades at the Whangarei club’s courts at Easter.

Death of Maori Child After suffering from a heavy cold for about three weeks, David Rewi Davis. 10 months, died, apparently from pneumonia, in the arms of his father, Mr B. R. Davis, at Otaika yesterday afternoon. An inquest into the death of the child, a full-blooded Maori, was opened by the Whangarei district coroner (Mr J. G. Draper) this morning and adjourned sine die. .Junior Red Cress in Kaeo A sub-centre, with two sub-branches, has been formed in Kaeo following a visit recently by the Kaikohe Junior Red Cross organiser (Mrs V. F. Craeknell). The subbranches are in the Kaeo District High School and Kaeo Primary School. The children have shown real enthusiasm for the work of the Junior Red Cross. They wore addressed on senior Rod Cross work by the president of the Bay of Islands Centre (Mrs T. Bassett).

Service Car Fares An amendment to the Transport Licensing Passenger Regulations gazetted last night stipulates the basis for children's fares on road services throughout the Dominion. It states that children under the ages of four years are to be carried free, and from four to 14 inclusive the fare will be half the adult fare.

Appreciate Kamo Efforts The interest which the Kamo Women's Emergency Corps has invariably maniiested in men from the district, who have been leaving for war service, or who have returned therefrom. was acknowledged during the recent function in the Kamo Hall, when boys from Kamo and Three Mile Bush were the guests of honour. Mrs. J. B. Logan, president of the emergency corps, in making a presentation on behalf oi members, wished the recipients the best of luck, and said that members of the emergency corps would follow their future movements with keen interest. During the evening Mrs Davenport sang and Miss Noelinc Joll danced two Scotch dances.
