Paparoa Furlough Men Welcomed Home

(Special) PAPAROA, This Dav. At a large-and enthusiastic gathering in the Garrison Hall, arranged by the young ladies of the district, a welcome home was tendered to Sergeant Brian Fenwick jPaparoa), Pte. L. Ball (Hukatere). Sgt. W. .). Mcßreen (formerly of Paparoa), and Sgt. Lyons (Whangarei). Sgt % Fenwick was the first Paparoa boy lnorX ollmt ? e , r for service in this war (in 1939), and has been through the campaigns in North Africa, Greece and Crete. Mr E. R. Jenkins, chairman of the patriotic committee, tendered to the boys a hearty welcome home on behalf of the people of Paparoa. It was a pleasure to tender a reception instead of a farewell, he said. He congratulated the soldiers on the good work they had accomplished overseas, and was pleased to see them all looking' so fit. He presented the guests with gifts of cigarettes from an anonymous donor.
