German Air Defence Temporarily On Top
NEW YORK, October 4,
“The Allies have temporarily lost mastery of the skies over western Europe. Any hope of bombing Germany from the war Uvithin the next few months is wishful thinking,” said Democratic Representative Will Rogers (son of the late Mr. Will Rogers, famous comedian) at Los Angeles. He added:_ “Now Germany has accumulated an unbelievable number of anti-aircraft guns, it is suicide for bombing missions below 15,000 feet. The Germans concentrate all aircraft production on. fighter planes and the investment is beginning to pay. The Allies laughed when the Germans first used, rockets on fighting planes, but returning pilots did not laugh. They were meeting fighters equipped with one to eight rockets, which were used effectively”
