Likely Rise In Whangarei Fish Prices
I Althougth no official intimation has been received by either fishmongers or fishermen, it is likely that the Whangarei retail and wholesale prices of fish will be raised, and fixed by the Price Tribunal. Retailers, wholesalers and fishermen in the Auckland metropolitan area are now charging higher prices for fish as ordered by 3 Price Order published on Monday. Although one or two type of fish have dropped in price in Auckland a few have remained the same, and most fish has increased in price to the I consumer. It is likeiy that the same I prices for fish to the consumer will 1 be charged in Whangarei. “Lemon” I fish formerly only 5d per lb has inI creased to 9d and lid, according to the I way in which it is sold. Snapper 1 and terakihi formerly 5a to 1/4 now I ranges from 6£d to 1/6; moki has ini creased from 8d to lOd; john dory from I 1/2 tajl/3 and l/3i; hapuka from 1/2 | to 1/3 and 1/4; crayfish from lOd to 1 lid. Flounder has decreased id per 1 lb, mullet formerly 8d to lid, is now | 7d to lid, . and kingfish remains the 2 same at 8d to lid. I 1
