Japs. Anticipate Big Drive Is Burma
(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 1
The Japanese are rushing large reinforcements to' Burma to meet an Allied offensive. Both Tokio and Berlin express fears that big Allied thrusts will be made soon against the Japanese in. one or more areas. Reports suggest that the Japanese expect landings in Sumatra and Malaya, as well as a thrust at Burma. Berlin radio said today: “Information about enemy shipping off Ceylon and the transfer of large numbers of troops to the eastern areas make it likely that the Allies intend to lausch an attack on Burma in the near future.”
