Fighting In China
(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) CHUNGKING, Oct. 1
Heavy fighting is in progress in the Furi River I’egion, Kiangsi province, where the Chinese, after checking a Japanese advance, launched a determined counter-attack, says a Chinese communique. The Chinese also attacked enemy positions east of Canton near the Canton-Kowloon railway, inflicting heavy casualties.
